my dad and sam figuring out the new-old toy.
Thank you for all the well-wishes and howdy-doos on the train trip and the intended gift-- both went over quite well. As Daphne pointed out, the Cascades route is actually quite fancy and (I'll add) completely kid friendly. They showed the old Disney Swiss Family Robinson movie and some Stuart Little cartoon, neither of which Sam was interested in, and the whole business was fairly on-time (we were only 45 minutes late). I'd do it again-- the one-way suited us perfectly and we stuck to less than seven hours which would have to be the limit. I should have packed more food.
The wedding was outdoors and lovely and I did end up picking something up from the registry but that is only because she registered for the EXACT same dishes Paul and I did years ago-- and well, that's just fun. My dad performed my cousin's ceremony and did it in fine fashion. He also managed to bust out a boxed attic fan this morning before we drove home. I hope it fits. He gets quite disgruntled to think his children are sleeping uncomfortably in the summer's heat.
My parent's have all manner of fruit growing in their yard... it's been awhile since I've been home during blueberry season-- jeez louise, it's a good time. Dad said it was a good year for cherries and barring a natural disaster, the pears seem to be coming on strong.
Summer, I could grow to like you.
