We've (I've) been lolly-gagging around this week watching the rain come down and reveling in Saturdays good times. Now it's Wednesday (no Thursday!) and everything is a wreck-- we have ants in the kitchen and the living room still looks like a play gym with all the furniture in different parts of the house. Company's coming. Again. I'm really happy about this particular visit and since it's sort of short we need to put on a good show. Starting with the house (and the ants).
I'm a reluctant decorator, and things take their slow sweet time getting on the walls and the windows. And once they're up, sometimes they come down pretty fast. Fear of commitment. So anyway-- the domino mag comes last month, and I don't pick it up until this one and lo and behold THERE IT IS amidst all the modern and the french country and the baroquey velvet:
It's the very idea of our living room, without a hint of bad condo/show home design sense. Phew. I love our couch-- with it's purpley brown and granny print texture-- but it's hard to decorate around and even harder to keep fresh and good. I've had a few missteps, but I think I'm heading down the right track. So, like Stephanie , I'm going with the pillows first. Cranberry, pinks, some gold and dark browns-- all matching what Sally and I are lovingly calling my caucasian coloured walls. Next stop: Curtains. I think I'm going to buy them. (I tremble at the thought!)
This is all good timing, as I'm experiencing a bit of a stall with what to start on next. And I know it's a bit of a stretch, but the title of the article is called "modern salon" and it's sort of lounge-ish and luxe and a teeny tiny bit uptight. Like any good living room.
