Hey Ho, Friday. Paul brought me the Complete America's Test Kitchen 2001-2010 cookbook home from the library and I'm freak freaking out-- WHO'S COMING OVER??!! Two weeks is not going to be enough time to get through this thing. Two weeks is barely long enough to take in all the adorable studio shots of Bridget Lancaster and Adam Reid, let alone perfect my Potatoes Anna. Good lord. There's a chapter titled "Keep Your Fork-- There's Pie!". I'm going to have to own this.

The box is coming along. All the spring things are growing just about as well as they can grow and I've managed to reseed the greens once and make enough room for non-bolting (we shall see) spinach. As soon as the first row of lettuce comes out, the tomatoes will start to go in. I mistimed some of my planting as far as placement goes, but I still have pretty high hopes for three full growing seasons (now, later this summer, and one into fall and winter). We'll see what our little box can do.
The strawberries are looking good (they are across our small yard from the box in a stone planter) as long as we can keep Manny from pulling the flowers and balancing them in his ear. Does your child do this? Balance plant life in his/her ear? Constantly? He never tries to stuff it in there... he just rests it. I am stubbornly not giving up on our blueberries, but I am steadily losing hope. If I were more obsessive, I would rip up all the landscaping we've put in the last couple of years and devote the entire yard to successful blueberry farming. That is a project for the crazy 72 year-old version of me. I might like cats by then, too.
